my eyes, my eyes ..

I have lousy eyesight - astigmatism, long sight, short sight ... you name it, I've got it.

for the past few years I've been wearing varifocal glasses, and I pay a lot for lightweight, anti-reflective lenses. But there's always a problem with sunglasses. I've tried prescription sunglasses, but you have to swap them round when you go in and out. I've tried clip-ons, but they're a nightmare to deal with if you're driving. I've tried reactolite, but they never change quickly enough.

then, while we were in California last year, I found the perfect solution - a sort of "over your glasses" sunglasses. A polarised pair cost me an extremely reasonable $20 (IIRC), and I could wear them when I needed, put them on my head, Jackie O style, when I didn't, and could manage them single handed, so perfect when driving.

but when I got my most recent specs a few weeks ago, the over the glasses sunglasses didn't fit over the new glasses - waah. I checked all round the Bristol shops, and nobody did them, or knew where I could get them; I was .. upset.

however, although it was a difficult thing to Google for (I had no idea of the terminology), I eventually turned up Cocoon. And some more swift Googling found me Riverkeeper, a UK stockist. They're an angling company - most of the people who retail Cocoon seem to be in that line of business ...

and they arrived this morning - tortoiseshell, with amber frames. They're *wonderful* - if you wear glasses, I recommend them.

Oooo excellent! Have been trying to find a replacement for Greg's sunglasses, which are a very badly scratched set of "over glasses" pair, but in the style of school science lesson eye protectors! Those Cocoon ones look much more stylish :-)
