homecoming

well, Ptep is home. He tested negative for leukaemia and feline AIDS, but the FIP test isn't back. And all the indications are that that's what it is :(

after our relief yesterday, when he actually ate something, he's stopped again. And there's nothing more the vets can do for him right now, so we'd rather have him here. He's so *thin*, but clearly delighted to be back - he even staggered into the garden and used his favourite plant pot as a litter tray. We've tried him on chicken, and even some salmon, but he just doesn't want to know.

we have a whole stack of medication for him - five different drugs - and we just have to keep hoping that a combination of those, and being with his family, will bring him round.

he's asleep on the cat tree behind me as I type, and in view of the catcam, should any of you like to see him.

please keep everything x-ed for him - he's such a wonderful cat.

[edit]
he's disappeared under the bed ... lord knows how we're going to get his medication down him.

I'm glad to hear that your kittycat is feeling better. Best wishes.

I read your post out to Teddy and, blow me, he let out a sort of strangled yelp, jumped off my knee, and ran away. So I'm pretty certain Ptep has Teddy's sympathy vote.

I know what the "I" stands for ...

What are the implications for the rest of the tribe?

hard to say. They could "catch" it, but not develop it. It could lay dormant in them for years. Horrible disease - hard to diagnose, impossible to treat ...

What is FIP? Can anything be done for him?

horrible disease - very difficult to diagnose, and no treatment ...

I'm sorry Mac, I just hope you manage to pull him through somehow.
