Liessa is particularly fond of plastic coated wire - she squirrels away bits of bag ties, and then brings them out from lord knows where, and chases them round the floor.

this leads to an unfortunate tendency to chew cable - thankfully, only thin ones, or we fear she would be electrificated. This morning she has excelled herself, and chewed in half the aerial from the clock radio in the bedroom [sigh]. [livejournal.com profile] perlmonger will have to get his soldering iron out.

We had a cat which didn't just chew things like cables but actually ate them. He consumed a few inches of the iron flex twice (luckily when it was unplugged and cooling down), one of my husband's shoes, about three square inches of a jumper one of the kids dropped on the floor etc etc. In the end our vet advised his going to a cat charity for rehoming to a pathologically tidy person as we agreed that there was no way two children (or their father) were ever going to remember not to leave things on the floor. There was also the distinct possibility of his trying the iron flex when it was turned on. Other big problem would very soon be intestinal obstruction and huge operations......! Apparently he was rehomed and was fine as these people never left anything on the floor and did not have floor-length curtains anywhere! Other than this he was a lovely affectionat cat.
