gradually installing things on this G4, ready for it to replace my XP Pro machine. Big problem is mail ... thousands and thousands of messages in The Bat! on the Windows box - I have to find a way to get them into (ideally) an iMap client, probably Mulberry. Still pondering on the best way to do that.

also, we discovered that we didn't after all have the right connectors to plug my two NEC TFT monitors into this machine, so the Big Switchover will be delayed until the Applestore delivers same.

and, although this machine is very noisy, Apple have at last bitten the bullet, and are replacing the power supplies on this model - hurrah!

If you can get them into Berkeley (It must just be Gloucestershire thing when you get the castle/power-station and the LSD/Distribution/University thing entertainingly confused) mbox format, it's all pretty simple.

UWash IMAP server, for instance, will read/write mbox, (Bernstein) maildir and a slew of other formats w/o hassle. Horrible wodge of code though it may be. (We used it @ Another.com, unfortunately)

On the other hand, I used Eudora (PC) to transfer six years of the one mailing list from a variety of weenix clients (pine, kmail, moz) to one archive.

Or there's perl.

cheers for that - I'm trying to avoid Linux solutions as I know sweet FA about it, and perl is just line noise to me :)

however, I have the good fortune to be married to a Linux/Perl geek, so I'll drag him in if I have to!
