(no subject)

the American view of the Hutton's view of the BBC is here - I know it's Fox News, but it's breathtaking nonetheless. Be careful - Quicktiime with sound.

Holy effing shit. Is this guy for real? I have this vision of him as Kermit the Frog, waving his hands around frantically.

Thank you for the glimpse into an alternative universe.

so let's see then ...

Fox News: owner R Murdoch

Biggest competitor (in many ways) to BBC: R Murdoch

Biggest media organisation targetting BBC: R Murdoch's papers (Times, Sun) and braodcast media (inc Sky, Fox)

Organisation that would like to buy part / all of BBC if they can lose their public security: R Murdoch.

Holy buggering shitwank.

That's the single most astounding thing I've seen in any connection to the entire Bush/Bush Jr/GW I/GW II affair.

Gosh. My local Fox News-derived channel is much less offensive than that. Maybe because it's the one for Southern California, or maybe I've just not been watching it at the right times....

Could we not call this "the American view" but *an* American view? I know lots of Americans who would be as appalled by that bit as you were. It's really not fair to call one commentator on Fox News (which all my friends loathe) representative of the views of 260 million people.

Good point. Many Americans might have boggled a bit if Freddy Forsyth's slot on the Today programme had been given similar prominence.
