...I don'y believe the done thing is to ask a lady her age...but I'm a quarter of a century, which sounds rather frightening (probably does for my parents, too!)

That's rather what I meant. I think of you as being lots younger than that and it comes as a shock to realise how quickly time passes.
I am delighted to report that I am still younger than your Mum, though ;-)
