it's a bank holiday weekend, and it's raining - so I have decided to tackle a job that I have been putting off for far too long - I'm going to catalogue the DVD collection.

Sorry to hear about the rain down there. The sun shineth upon the righteous up here in God's Own County!
I've only got about eight DVDs, so they don't take much cataloguing...mind you, I've only had a DVD player since last October. Now videos - that would be a horse of a different colour. Let's just leave it at "too many", but nowhere near the books, which number in the thousands and aren't even on the right shelves yet. They're on shelves, but since the "nice men" from McCarthy's unpacked for me, I have little idea of exactly what's where. It would need to be Noye's Fludde for me to get round to doing anything about that...

we have lots of DVDs, many of which we haven't watched yet. We've replaced most of our video collection with the DVD versions now.

we have hundreds of CDs too, but they're catalogued via iTunes, so I can just export the XML file now and again.

books, however - I have no idea how I'm going to start cataloging those. They are double banked on bookshelves squeezed into every spare corner ...

this is all part of my "lets scare ourselves by finding out how underinsured we are" scheme.
