I got up this morning to find that an unidentified cat (although Esk is no.1 suspect) had crapped in the bathroom, and another unidentified cat (yes, Esk again, I reckon), had thrown up on the landing.

[livejournal.com profile] perlmonger has a far stronger stomach than I, and usually cleans up these leavings, thankfully. I remarked to him that we only needed to find a small furry corpse for the full set; he pointed out that a large furry corpse would do just as well.

half an hour later, I found it. By treading on it (euwwwwww). Cats ... what are they *for*?

This is a question I frequently ask myself. Still no answers.

Cats ... what are they *for*?

A question that I have asked myself several times recently...
Teasle refuses to pee in even the cleanest, most brand new litter-tray, preferring the bath mat (it was worse at the old house, it was the front door mat...gah!). He'll use either of the trays until Starless has been and peen (!) and then decides that they're "off limits" even when the offending widdle-clump has been removed. Still poos in the trays - go figure!
Starless never quite buries his crappies adequately so the flat is suddenly and alarmingly filled with noxious odours.
They're both great chuckers-up, too.

You would still go mad if someone suggested getting rid of them though.
And what are they for -

Talking to when you are on your own so you don't feel quite so mad

Welcoming you when you come home

Using as stand-in hot water bottles on cold days/nights (either on your lap, over your feet or on the duvet next to you)

Purring and being stroked to destress you after a crap day at work

Making you laugh as they wash themselves very elegantly but so vigorously that they fall backwards off the chair they are on

Reminding you you are wanted, even if only to fill food bowls

Just looking gorgeous

And yes, ours do bring in small dead (and sometimes anything but dead) animals, chuck up etc.

No no no. It's:

"Cats! EUUGH! What are they good for?"
"Absolutely nothing!" "Say it again!"
