I'm really not sure that we (as in the UK) can distance ourselves from this - we are too wrapped up with the US in the whole "war on terror" thing.

I'm rapidly reaching the conclusion that the cure is worse than the symptoms - it's certainly making the disease worse :(

True enough, we seem to be a bit close on that pillion for a lot of folks' taste.

Given that we are where we are and the forensics really don't affect that one way or the other, I'm puzzled as to what the eventual exit strategy for the US is. Ours is pretty clear and quite advanced; theirs is something of a mystery to me.
