went to see The Prisoner of Askaban last night - we turned up for the 9 p.m showing, and there were less than 20 people in the ... what do you call it in a multi-screen? Screening room?

anyway, it meant that we could sit in the comfy sofa-esque seats without paying the extra, and taking into account the Orange 241 deal, the tickets cost us £5.60 for £21 worth.

what's that you say? Did we like the film? Hell, yes. I think the change of director was a good decision - the movies is somehow darker and more complex (and yes, I know the books went that way as they went on, but even so); I think that Michael Gambon actually makes a *better* Dumbledore than Richard Harris (stone the heretic). I haven't reread the book since it first came out, so I don't remember what they left out, but it all worked for me, and the special effects and scenery were fabulous, for the most part.

please can I have a hippogriff?
