my evening meal
Jan. 10th, 2005 02:01 pmor, more precisely, 16 evening meals ...
we have a quarter of a cow arriving next week. This takes up a lot of room in the freezer, so we decided to have a mega sort out this weekend.
we have three freezers - a smallish one on the huge US fridge/freezer, a tall one in the shed, and a counter height one under the stairs. The latter was bought for frozen catfud, but for various reasons which I won't go into now, we no longer buy frozen catfud, and so it ought to go. But, of course, the frozen comestibles had expanded themselves across all three freezers.
so we hauled out all the existing Dexter, which was rather more than we had anticipated. And cooked five tubs of bolognese sauce, four tubs of an Indian beef stew, and four tubs (at least - I haven't tubbed it yet) of beef in red wine.
and we found some rump steaks in the back of the freezer, so had them on Saturday night, and I braised some silverside for dinner yesterday.
so there are lots of home made frozen meals in the freezer, the one under the stairs has been defrosted and cleaned, and now contains everything from the outside freezer, which is defrosting now. And we should be able to get rid of it in the next week or so - hurrah!
