Why would anyone buy anything from the man?

Or even accept something that appears to be free: Have you seen the myspace.com T&Cs that apply to any works artists & musicians upload there?

I haven't bothered to go and look because a) we are not LLU'd and probably never will be, and b) nothing would induce me to buy Sky products.

however, I believe their T&Cs are not available on line, and - like most other people offering this kind of thing - there is a "fair use" policy which is undefined.

I wonder why people don't realise that _something_ has to give for these incredibly cheap internet deals.

[livejournal.com profile] perlmonger is not fond of Murdoch, and nor am I. The man (Murdoch, that is, not [livejournal.com profile] perlmonger has far too much media control already.

full page ad in the Evening Standard/Metro with the tarrifs - not the T&Cs though

Myspace is a social networking site aimed at young people, with a particular emphasis on musicians and those of an artistic bent. Its T&Cs include a notably egregious rights grab.

oh, I know what myspace.com is - they steal megabytes of bandwidth from us every month in terms of their users helping themselves to our photographs.

however, I avoid going to the site if at all possible.

rights' grabs are appalling nowadays - look at various news publications' (inc BBC Online) rights grabs. (I know this isn't grammatically correct, but it's too hot, and I'm sure you get the gist.)

because you already trust them to send you data one way and so trust them to send you data another way
because it's easier to have one bill
because you want the sky broadband content and this is the easiest way
because Sky-the-brand is better known than that-sod-of-an-owner now

I would have considered broadband from "stinker" Murdoch. This Rupert chap is altogether a different proposition.
