During the Notting Hill Carnival a few years back some bastard stole the 4ft tall fibreglass frog waste bin we had in our front garden. People will nick anything if it isn't nailed down.
2 doors down tried a few weeks ago to nick my wheelie bin --- theirs has gone missing... Maybe if they didn't leave it on the street after bin collection they'd still have it. Anyway, they went as far as trying to disguise a rather prominent 7 on it by half heartedly trying to turn it into a 3.
we had our green recycling box nicked last year. With great presence of mind, the neighbours who had just moved in gave us theirs, and told the council they didn't have one.
