as I get older and still creakier, I'm taking more and more pills - cranberry, devil's claw, echinacea, cod liver oil. And now, at the suggestion of [livejournal.com profile] mogs61, I'm about to add glucosamine and chondroitin to the list.

to make life easier, I tipped a whole load of each pill into a bowl, and now we just dip into it morning and evening. But it does feel a bit ... druggy, somehow :)

I was taking devils claw, fish oils and multi vitamins. I recently stopped as I ran out and have been manic at work. At first my arthtitis did seem to flare a bit but now its been better than its been in a while.. It could just be a brief lul. I've now got fish oils and vitamins again but staying off the devils claw for now, I probably have to before surgery anyhow.

I did try glucosamine but it didnt seem to help much and gave me terrible wind!!

actually, I've just run out of devil's claw, so I thought I'd give the glocosamine a whirl. Bit worried about the wind though :)

I took echinacea on [livejournal.com profile] gmul's advice to fend off a cold that was lurking before my audition.
But he reckons you must take it only when you feel something coming on, and not all the time, otherwise it doesn't work.

I've just got some glucosamine to try - hope I don't get wind from it because I'm already jet-propelled thanks to my IBS meds...

really? I though you were meant to take it all the time.

sorry we missed your call on Monday night - we don't usually answer the phone to a non-ID'd number in the evening (or any other number, some nights ... Hermits R Us :)

No problem. If I remember I'll give you a call tonight, if you're about.

PK and I both take glucosamine, and have avoided wind problems.

No, echinacea is not pre-emptive like that, alas. I've been trying zinc this year, it does seem to have worked. I've had a bronchial infection, as per usual, but it's been mild, not really debilitating; it only occurred to me yesterday that I had in fact had the campus lurgy, along with everyone else, but so mildly that it didn't occur to me to link my almost insignificant symptoms with the major epidemic going round. The only thing I can point to that is different this year is the zinc.

My night-time handful consists of: statin, aspirin, devil's claw, glucosamine and chondroitin combined, omega 3 oil, and horsetail (for my hair and nails). I have a drawer in the bathroom with a load of little druggie baggies all lined up, I just dip along - 2 from this, 3 from that.

Chuck in some ginko biloba too. The docs treating my Alzheimer's mother all take it…

I also throw glucosamine down my neck (along with far too many other drugs) - no wind here!
