After the success of the Roomba, I went mad and ordered a Domotec steam mop - it's wonderful for doing the kitchen floors, but today I had a proper "go" with it. It was just good to get away from computers and other assorted stress.

I did the patio doors and the kitchen windows - there's a knack to use it on glass, but I think I've got it now. I did the cooker which, if I'm honest, I must confess to have been disgusting. It isn't now. I mopped down the cupboard doors, and the fridge/freezer, and the dishwasher. Then I came to my senses, and went and sat down with a cup of tea.

I *boiled* the cloths I'd been using. In a pan, on the hob.
Where will it all end?

Bed now - my shoulders ache.

There was an interesting article recently on how to "clean" dish sponges, and out of the various options, the two that actually worked were
1) put them in the dishwasher and do a full cycle
2) dampen them and microwave them

I can't recall the other options, but I think one was spray them with disinfectant and the other may have been boil on the stove ...

... but still, well done you! I've been doing laundry today, and was very pleased with myself for finding the dylon shirt whitener packets when it came time to do a load of white shirts ... and for buying the super concentrated persil liquid and tesco fabric conditioner, because they use half the packaging *and* are lighter to carry *and* take up less space on the shelf :-)

The dishwasher idea looks promising - I shall Google.

I always put things like that in either the dishwasher or the washing machine. I also dishwash the washing up brushes.

It's never occurred to me to microwave them, though. What a good idea!

I haven't seen any of those super concentrated bottles yet, but our Morrison's isn't exactly at the forefront of consumer product innovation.

Flylady suggests changing them every day and tossing them in with other washing; I've seen other suggestions that daily microwaving works.
