I have my contact lenses.  I wanted extended wear ones, but Specsavers don't do them for torics - and now I'm very glad they don't.  The distance is fine (although the prescription needs tweaking a bit) but now I can't do anything close up without reading glasses; can't see the phone, can't read the herb jars in the kitchen, etc.

Without glasses or lenses, I can see to read in bed, in the bath, etc.  Having to wear glasses for that all the time would drive me crazy - and I'm also very glad I didn't go through with the laser surgery!

Having said all that, I would like some extended wear ones for when we're away camping or similar, so I'm going to get a copy of my prescription and order some off that interweb.  I'm supposed to go back on 15th May for a checkup, but I'm going to see if I can pull it forward to next Friday, as I really do need something slightly stronger for distance.  And once everything has settled down, I might think about daily disposables rather than 30 day ones, so as not to faff about with the cleaning routine, etc, because I doubt I'm going to wear them every single day.

However, by and large, I'm chuffed - having had poor eyesight since the age of 10, every set of lenses I've tried, and glasses I've worn, has been a compromise of one sort of another, and these lenses are great for being out and about.  And I can wear sunglasses!

I really should have an eye test, and maybe get some prescription sunglasses. There's an optician in town who will have an old prescription of mine on their files, but it'll be in someone else's name, which might tell you how much I've procrastinated on this!
