a few weeks ago I bought a rather linen-y hooded top in a shop in Glastonbury, and I dragged it out to wear yesterday for the first time.

it bore a label (claiming to be printed on handmade paper) stating the following:

I'm made with 100% organic cannabis hemp. Vegetable dyed or natural colour.

Fairtrade product, no child labour, no sweat shops. Our workers work when they want to.

No fertilizers, no pesticides, no chemical dyes, no chemicals at all.

Tree free. The raw materials for this product are plants gathered from the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

Handmade by the peoples of the Kingdom of Nepal.

but I bet they *still* got paid peanuts ...

I'll say - we got home at 7 last night, after having gone to Sunbury for a meeting (250 mile round trip from here), to find that a client's e-mail was broken.

so instead of collapsing into a heap in front of the Tivo with a takeaway, we worked straight through till 9.30, then went to bed having had a bag of Twiggies between us for supper.

I do far more work now than I ever did before, but at least it's for us ...

I see, get to within a few hundred yards of me, and then bugger off without so much as a wave at my building then! :-)

Any clue about which (potential) client it is you were visiting? IBM? ADT? Chubb? GXS? Johnson and Johnson? or any of the dozens of other outfits around here ..

Absolutely. Since I became self-employed, evenings are for 'catching-up the days leftovers' with, and weekends are for 'trying to get a jump-start on the following week' with.

And when you pride yourself on the "personal touch", you realise after a while that saying NO to anyone about anything has become a complete nightmare. :-)
