sheepthief's journal, and as I have far too much work to do, it looked like an excellent avoidance tactic.
1. What's on your bedside table? I have a biggish chest of drawers, which contains an Ikea boxy thing for cats to sleep on, a bottle of fizzy water, a clock/radio, some ibuprofen, a heap of books, and a glossy paper bag from a jeweller containing some of my bits and bobs of jewellery (how conventional).
2. What's the geekiest part of your music collection? one man's geek is another woman's normal. I have fairly catholic tastes.
3. What do you eat when you raid the fridge at night? cheese. Particularly smoked austrian.
4. What is your secret guaranteed weeping film? Beaches gets me every time. As does Strictly Ballroom. And the speech at the end of The American President - "my name is Andrew Shepherd, and I *am* the president." Wonderful!
5. If you could have plastic surgery, what would you have done? nothing at all. Wouldn't undergo surgery for vanity reasons.
6. Do you have a completely irrational fear? I *hate* heights. Although I'm getting slightly better as I get older.
7. What is the little physical habit that gives away your insecure moments? I'm not sure I have one. [asksperlmonger: apparently I don't]
8. Do you ever have to beg? not these days. I can only think of one occasion when I did.
9. Do you have too many love interests? nope - just the one.
10. Do you know anyone famous? Depends on how you define "famous". I know a lot of IT journos, who are famous in their own small circle. My mother once worked as secretary to Billy Cotton (you'd have to be very old to remember him!), and there were a few famous (at that time) people around when I was a small child.
11. Describe your bed. needs replacing. Decent mattress, not very good frame. Usually contains many cats.
12. Spontaneous or plan? I've never really been any good at spontaneous, sadly. I tend to overplan.
13. Who should play you in a movie about your life? who would want to watch such a thing?!
14. Do you know how to play poker? oh yes. Or am I bluffing? I prefer dice to cards, which is probably due to my naval upbringing.
15. What do you carry with you at all times? only keys, and phone when I remember it. For longer journeys I carry iPod and Palm, but I don't bother if I'm just going to Sainsburys.
16. How do you drive? I'm pretty careful about speed limits, except when I get out on the open road, when I can be quite brisk. But I do try to keep to 90ish these days - it's too easy to lose your licence from sodding gatsos. I have (and always have had) a clean licence, and I have max no claims discount, so nobody's caught me yet.
17. What do you miss most about being little? as in being a child? Nothing
- I loathed my childhood, and was desperately unhappy.
18. Are you happy with your given name? hah! You don't think my given name is "Mac", do you? My given name is on my passport and my driving licence, and that's it. I even arranged with the registrar that it was not read out at our wedding.
20. What was the last song you were listening to? lord knows - we keep the house jukebox on random play so that I don't have to listen to too much Zappa :)
21. Have you ever been in a school play? I was usually the accompanist for school plays.
22. Have you ever been in love? Yes.
23. Do you like yourself and believe in yourself? Yes. That's a short answer, but I did think about it first.
24. Do you think you're cute? ROFL! No, thank ghod.
25. Do you consider yourself to be a nice person? I take great pride in making sure that I'm not nice. Unfortunately the mask slips occasionally ... but I always implore people not to give the game away.
