I've been waiting to see these - the questions asked in the MORI poll about ID cards.

the questions look surprisingly reasonable - sadly, the answers don't. I wish I understood why so many people are in favour of this.

oh, of course - "it'll make it easier to join a video shop". I despair.

I really do despair:
Q1: How much do you know . . .
Just a little (and less): 73%

With Q2: In favour to some degree: 80%

Isn't it time people actually bothered to learn about a proposal before deciding to support it?

Idiots.

But at least few people believe the Govt. spiel about the prevention of terrorism.

What bits of question 3b DON'T I tick?
Two questions arise; just what kind of a cross-section of the population did MORI take their sample from, and who's going to pay for it? If, as I suspect, the answer to my first question is "ill-informed Sun readers and ignorant Little Englanders", the answer to my second question is "not them if they have anything to do with it". Big Blunkett should remember that "it's the economy, stupid".
Plenty more resources on the subject over at [livejournal.com profile] nalsa's blog, meanwhile pop over here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/G114), tell your friends, and make your voice heard against this vile intrusion into Britons' civil liberties.
