I would just like to say that perlmonger is a fine husband.

while he simply doesn't understand my deep-seated need for shoes and handbags, he never ever tries to stop me ...

we had to visit the horror that is The Maul today to go to the opticians; when he asked if there was anything else I needed from there, I said I needed a new bag. He just sighed with resignation, and followed me round John Lewis, and didn't even blench at the price. *And* I bought some shoes - well, flipflops, really - and a hat.

what did he buy? Some pysllium husks and a new pair of trousers to go with his nice linen jacket. We returned poor but happy.

Good man you have there missy. Give him a kiss for me. I can't even get mine to go into a department store with me for more than just a few minutes before he starts sweating and complaining about his hip and back and winds up having to sit on the floor, seriously. He has some kind of awful male shopping phobia, and a bad case of it. It sucks because I love to shop, love, love, love it, darn it. I need an accomplice.

actually, I'm that rare woman who hates to shop - as I get older, I'm divesting myself of "things" ... it's a sort of Life Laundry thing, I think.

but he is a treasure, for sure :)
