ooh .. love that quote and I'm in the middle of a wikipedia discussion about languages at the moment - might throw it in to the mix. Do you remember which prog it was / who speaker-source was?

I think the full quote is "...with an army and a navy." And it's brilliant, and perfectly accurate, too. Apparently, it derives from the linguistics of Yiddish (http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Linguistics/armynavy.html).
