we made one of our occasional forays into Brissle centre yesterday.
it was necessitated by the cancellation of Jools Holland's concert that was supposed to be in Queens Square last night. Cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, apparently, so we have swapped the tickets for the concert at Glastonbury Abbey on August 1.
we ventured into Debenhams (how I hate that shop, and indeed Broadmead) to buy a butter dish, as the previous one fell foul to the predatory PoD, who marauded across the worktop and knocked it into smithereens. I shall be docking his pocket money. The previous dish was a Portmerion one like this:
but I've gone off Portmerion a bit - am serious thinking of selling my 8 person dinner set with assorted extras - so we bought a plain white one with a rather pleasing knob on the lid. And some Brita water filters at £16 for 6 - we get through these at an alarming rate, due to the copious ingestion of tea.
we also remembered that we had failed to remove the Dexter fillet steak from the freezer for the planned dinner of beef stroganoff, so we made a quick foray to M&S to buy some - £27 per kg, FFS! We were assaulted by a huge bag of cherries and some chocolate raisins while were in there, which was a tad unfortunate. Then on to Holland and Barrett for some bits and pieces. This involves going past the camera shop, but I managed to resist entering ...
we wandered back to the car via Virgin to find that they were doing certain DVDs at two for £18. And they had a twin pack of Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi as a twin pack, so it counted as one. We try to buy DVDs that perhaps we wouldn't normally buy when we spot such an offer, so we added City of God as the second. Then spotted Con Air for a fiver, so slung that in as well.
then
perlmonger went to the gym while I slobbed about - I was actually asleep when he got back - and we cooked the strog. M&S beef is not a patch on Mr Rawlings' finest, but the food was excellent nonetheless, and we watched X-Men - what a *very* silly film.
now what shall we do today?
