well, that was huge fun.
perlmonger and I took ourselves off to the Trowbridge Village Pump Festival for the weekend.
we packed the Moose with camping gear, and departed on Thursday afternoon.
we expected it to be fairly quiet on the campsite, as the festival doesn't really get going till Friday evening, but not a bit of it. It was quite tricky to find a spot for the tent, and the site sloped a lot, meaning that we slipped in a downward direction during the night - the sleeping bags, that is, not the tent! We'd bought a new tent for the occasion - my old knees struggle getting in and out of the little one, so this is a fine baronial hall with more headroom, and a nice porch. Still no en-suite, though.
the festival is *fab* - lovely atmosphere, and some great music. Lots of stalls selling the sort of gear you really only see at festivals - I'm afraid P and I between us were guilty of purchasing purple velvet tops and tie dye t-shirts and bracelets with elephants on andsome a lot of CDs and more t-shirts and a tie dye kaftan-ish thing. It's a very family-oriented affair, so there are kids entertainers and so on, and that gives it a very gentle atmosphere.
we saw lots of good music - memorable were
lovely, lovely weekend - totally de-stressing, lovely weather, good fud and beer. Must do it again.

we saw lots of good music - memorable were
- Show of Hands - never seen them before, and they are wonderful
- Naked Voices, a fine acapella group
- the fabulous Eliza Carthy - can't believe I've never seen her live before.
- the inimitable Richard Thompson, playing a cut down version of the acoustic set we saw him do in Warwick a few weeks ago. He was *far* more relaxed in the festival atmosphere.
lovely, lovely weekend - totally de-stressing, lovely weather, good fud and beer. Must do it again.
