Aug. 7th, 2006 11:03 am... has gone to Amazon this morning for the Alan Bleasdale boxed set.
this is because, for some obscure reason, and presumably because it *knew* how much I was looking forward to watching episode 5 of G.B.H. last night, the Tivo failed to change the channel, and so recorded 1.5 hours of *ITV* [shudder] on Saturday night while we were at![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)

while I was Amazonning, I decided to order the rather fine Richard Thompson: 1000 Years of Popular Music - I'm quite a fan of Mr T, andsbisson (I think it was) recommended it to me most highly at the weekend.
Amazon said it was in stock, let me put it in the basket, let me enter my new credit card details, and *then* told me it wasn't in stock after all - although the page still says it is. So disappointment there. I fear it's going to be a bad week ...

Mar. 4th, 2006 07:18 pmhaving cut my teeth on them doing the cookbook lookup on www.nibblous.com, I decided to address the subject of our DVD collection.
so ... export the ASINs from DVDPedia, put file into BBEdit, a bit of RegExp search and replace and a mySQL command, and I had a basic list.
about 10 minutes of programming to alter the files from Nibblous to suit DVDs and my site, and then an enjoyable half an hour or so of interrogating Amazon with each ASIN, confirming it was right, and writing data into the database and grabbing their largest image for further manipulation.
tomorrow, I might write the code to actually display it on my site.
