we took the Midwich Kittens in to Judith this morning, so that they could be neutered. I *hate* the idea of them undergoing surgery - they're still so tiny - but needs must.

Judith is utterly smitten by them, and mused aloud on how well one would look with Josh, her lilac Burmese; and so we think it would be a kindness to take her the details of the breeder when we go and collect Lilith and Liessa, don't you?

we also popped Iggy in a basket and took him with us, as he has seemed not himself for the past few days. Glad we did - he has an abscess under his tail [ouch]. We told Judith that Iggy was unpillable, so she promptly proved us wrong by giving him an antibiotic with no problem, and then instructing us on how to do it.

I hold out little hope for our success, to be honest, but we can but try. If you see no further postings from self and [livejournal.com profile] perlmonger, you will know we have failed, and Iggy has bitten our fingers off.

Have you tried a ball of cheese on Iggy? Works a treat for smuggling pills down Dandy.

well, we tried the vet's method; we failed miserably, and Iggy (and we) became very stressed.

in desperation, and with little hope, I opened a pack of waffer thin chicken (which, as always, brought all member of the Tribe hurtling into the kitchen), and managed to get it down him wrapped in some of that.

thankfully, Judith has given us whopping great antibiotics, so he only needs half a pill once a day. Although it will cost us a fortune in chickie! if it continues to work, and I have my doubts about that.

Does he not go apeshit for cheese then?

nope - he's not interested in cheese at all.

Interesting. I wonder if Dandy is unusual in loving it so. And Marmite, too.

no, lots of cats (including some of ours) eat cheese. And I'm convinced that Marmite saved Ptep's life ("I nearly died, you know"); he simply wouldn't eat anything, and in desperation I dipped my finger in the Marmite jar, and he licked it all off ... never looked back!
